Zona residencial y familiar

In much of Moratalaz you can see typical houses from the 50s and 60s, when the district began to develop and grow in population. Another feature is the large number of green areas available, which reaches 20% of its land. Among them is the Cuña Verde, the Dionisio Ridruejo Gardens or Parque del Lago, the Moratalaz Park (known as Parque Z) or the Darwin Park. Las Lonjas is also popular, the name given to the area of terraces, pubs, cafes and restaurants where much of the district's entertainment is concentrated.

Vecindario comprometido

In addition, it is a district in which the neighbors are active and have an important social conscience. An example of this is the Bicicrítica Moratalaz: a monthly event that is held on the penultimate Thursday of each month leaving from the Plaza del Encuentro, and which advocates the use of the bicycle as a clean and healthier means of transport. Ecovidrio's first green recycling igloo was also installed here.

Culture

Characters such as Elvira Lindo, Melendi or Alejandro Sanz have lived in this district, who have dedicated songs to her. And within its borders, a Guinness record has even been broken: that of the largest paella in the world achieved by the Valencian Antonio Galbis in 2001 and enjoyed by more than 100,000 people.
