Palacio de Artaza

This palace was carried out by the architect Manuel María de Smith Ybarra in 1914 (inaugurated in 1918), and was the place of residence for King Alfonso XIII and his family during the first years. The building, built on a plot of land, consists of several areas (for servants, guests, children...) and is surrounded by a garden that is currently publicly accessible.

Over the years the palace has had various owners until in 1989 it became the property of the Basque Government.

Parques

Leioa is characterized by the amount of green areas that it makes available to its inhabitants, such as Parque Artatza or Parque Pinosol. The university itself is divided into more campuses, thus offering a wide range of faculties and areas of study. In addition, Leioa has a wide festive calendar in which its main festival stands out, celebrated on June 24, in honor of San Juan Bautista.
