Monasterio de San Cugat del Vallés

The municipality of San Cugat del Vallés is above all famous for its Benedictine monastery that is located in the historic center. It was built between the 9th and 14th centuries and was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 1931, making it one of the most important monasteries in the entire county of Barcelona.

Over the years, the monastery has undergone numerous transformations in order to adapt to the new artistic trends of different times and the needs of the monastic community. As a whole, it stands out above all for its cloister.

Puente de Can Vernet

Built in the 14th century, this bridge is a Gothic aqueduct made up of two arches that was responsible for carrying water from the monks' mine to the Sant Cugat monastery. That is to say, it was part of the water supply system in the Royal Monastery; finally in 1835 it became municipal property.

In 1979 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and in 1998 it was restored to end up as a pedestrian walkway between Calle de la Mina and Avenida Vullpalleres.
