Alfafar is a municipality that is located in the Huerta Sur region, in Valencia. It has 10.1 km² and a total of 21,415 inhabitants today. Formerly it was a Muslim farmhouse and its name comes from "Al Hofra" (hole or pit), referring to the graves that have been found in the center of the city while carrying out a series of investigations.

In the past, despite the fact that not many indicators remain due to the passage of time, it is said that Alfafar was a town dedicated to agriculture and fishing. Currently, its main economic engine is the service sector.

Located in the Plaza Mayor of the municipality, this Catholic building dates back to the 13th century and represents a popular Baroque style, housing the image of the Virgen del Don. Currently, the church is considered an Asset of Local Relevance, being one of the most representative buildings in Alfafar.

Fiestas de Alfafar

Among the events celebrated are the Patron Saint Festivities that take place at the end of August. When it is finished, the Virgen del Don is transferred to the cemetery where the mass takes place and later, the image is transferred to Avenida de los Reyes.
